Agri-footprint 2.0

W e are proud to announce that Agri-footprint 2.0 is now available in SimaPro. In the last months Agri-footprint has been updated extensively. Several products, implementation of various methodologies and updated cultivation and processing LCIs have been added. This results in availability of valuable information and input for agricultural Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs). Worldwide there is growing interest in consistent agricultural data, as agriculture is the most important source of impacts for a large number of environmental issues. Over the last years Agri-footprint is widely accepted by the food industry, LCA community, scientific community and governments internationally and has been critically reviewed. In this respect Agri-footprint 2.0 is the keystone for sustainable food world-wide.

Over 3.500 products and processes

Since its release in 2014, Agri-footprint has been used for many interesting applications, from labelling schemes to product design tools. The recent update leads towards a database containing 3,500 products and processes for agricultural LCAs, from crops to animal production systems and background processes. Many products are available for various countries and regions worldwide. Furthermore, three pre-defined allocation options are offered: mass, energy and economic. Agri-footprint offers users a wide range of agriculture-specific impact categories such as water use and land use. Moreover, new land use change statistics are fully integrated.

Compliant with latest initiatives and methodologies

Agri-footprint 2.0 methodology and data quality are compliant with the latest initiatives and methodologies, such as ILCD and ReCiPe. The methodology and data quality have been reviewed by RIVM (Dutch national institute for public health and the environment). The future ambitions for Agri-footprint are focussed on the integration of USDA agricultural LCI Data, fruits and vegetables.
